Scott T. Maker

Scott Maker is a former litigation partner at Pierce Atwood, one of Maine's largest law firms. While in private practice, Scott handled a wide variety of cases, including insurance, product liability and personal injury disputes involving both state and federal law.

He later served in a number of both legal and business roles at Unum, a market leading financial services company, including as Deputy General Counsel. In this latter role, Scott oversaw the company's entire litigation function, including claim and complex litigation involving class action, regulatory violations, and intellectual property issues.

Scott is now a principal at WoodworthMaker, LLC, where his nationwide mediation practice specializes in life, health and disability (LHD) cases. Scott has mediated cases involving nearly every major LHD insurance carrier and has a well deserved reputation among members of both the defense and plaintiffs' bar as an effective and successful mediator.

In recognition of his ability as a mediator, Scott was inducted into the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, an invitation-only, peer-nominated, association of mediators and arbitrators from around the country.
